World Wednesday (5/1/19)

Hi, all,
This week, we are starting our missions team "World Wednesday" updates, where we will recap and follow up on missions projects and discussions! (I know you're all devastated it's not "Missions Monday," but Compassion Team got dibs with "Mercy Monday," so... here we are.)
Recap of Sunday Meeting:
David briefly walked us through the Missions board on Trello, our project management tool, which you all can view to see where we stand on various projects. In the future, we will spend a little more time training our team so we can all use it; for now, David and I will manage it.Events:Recap - Equip training (April 6th)We didn't get to talk about this. Stephanie will give us a brief summary during our next meeting.
Recap - Easter invitation outreach (April 7th-14th)
We didn't get to talk about this. The week before Easter, a few of us from Trinity went out to pray and hand out Easter Fest invitations at a few different places in the community. We will share more details next week.
Upcoming - RUF's Cinco de Mayo fundraiser (May 5th)
Thank you, Donald & Stephanie, for volunteering to help Christie with picking up food for this event.
If anyone else is planning to attend, please RSVP with Christie Brewer ASAP at [email protected].
Upcoming - Evangelism training (June 8th)
Didn't get to this. We will be partnering with Anthony English, West Coast Assistant Director at MTW, for an evangelism opportunity here in OC. We'll share more later.
Salcedos: We did not have much time to discuss this Sunday, but we agreed to continue the discussion via email so we are able to make a final decision by our next meeting. Here is a summary of the responses we have received via email thus far:
Change to monthly giving? Yes
Increase the giving amount? Yes; how much? We currently have $10,500 of unallocated funds in our missions budget. We also have a list of about 6 people (U.S.-based church planters, campus ministry workers, and also Jonathan Lew here at Trinity, who works with Faculty Bridges) who have unofficially requested financial support (i.e., they have not submitted a "Missionary Funding Proposal" yet). So, future partnerships should come into consideration as we decide how much to increase.
Visit ministry site: Yes. It was suggested by a couple of people that we visit the Salcedos to see the ministry and needs there before we make a decision about increasing the support. I would like to suggest that, since we already know the specific financial need (additional $650/month), making a visit for this purpose is not necessary. As we proposed, however, I do think a visit for the purpose of encouraging and better understanding the Salcedo family and their church is a wonderful idea. (Diane, perhaps you can begin a conversation with them about this soon. Let's talk more about this next meeting.)
Everyone, please "reply all" by Wednesday, May 8th with questions, suggestions, and other ideas so we can discuss all together. If you're in favor of this proposal as is, say "aye"
😊
.
Current giving: $3000/year or $250/month
Before the end of May 2019: increase giving to $4200/year or $350/month for the next year (until end of May 2020)
Before the end of May 2020: send at least 2 members from our church to go visit the Salcedos to see their ministry, encourage them, provide any needed assistance or resources, etc.
Chad Brewer:Chad came and shared an encouraging update on the RUF at UC Irvine. He also shared about support needs as he transition to his new role as the Director of RUF International and RUF Global. You can view his notes on that here.He also shared during our service on Sunday, and we got to pray for him during Prayers of the People. Chad even said that, in his 20+ years of ministry, Trinity has the best missions team he has ever worked with! He mentioned that we have been faithful to pray for him consistently and stay in the loop on the ministry. What an honor and blessing it is to partner with and support these missionaries--and to hear that we are meeting a felt need.
Missionary Prayer Requests & Photos:
Please send these to me so we can get them posted on our website and Enews. We will also be using photos to make prayer cards for our church members to take home. Thanks!
Team Meeting:
Can we put our next team meeting on the calendar for 9am on Sunday, June 2nd?I'm so thankful for all of you and your heart for God's work in this world! Talk to you all soon.
