Trinity Missions Update 8/31/19 ver 2

Hi, Missions Team!

Here's the update for this week.

Team Commitments:

We are excited to announce that everyone on the Missions Team has re-upped for the next year!  Thank you all so much for committing your time, energy, and love to our missionaries and to growing the missional culture of our church. As we know, some of our team roles are quite demanding, and our team could be even more effective with additional members who can competently help with some of these responsibilities.  If you know someone at our church who would be a good fit, please talk to them about the Missions Team!  John in particular could use a partner in the mobilization role who has administrative and logical gifts.

Team Meeting Rescheduled:

Due to Trinity's Fall Kick-Off, our next team meeting has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 15th, at 8:30am in the overflow room.  This will give us a little more time to work through the new missionary funding applicant interviews and mission trip mobilization planning. We will typically plan to meet the 2nd Sunday of every month.

Missionary Funding Applications:

Aug. 31:  New missionary funding applications are due Sept. 1-30:  David & Reagan interview with each candidate via phone or video call and record the interviews for the whole team to listen.Click here to access the blank missionary funding application.Click here to access information for our new missionary funding applicants. If you have questions you would like us to include in the interviews, please click the button at the bottom of this email.

Missionary Funding Priorities:

During our meeting, we discussed current requirements for partnering with new missionaries.  These criteria were established in January 2018.  Here they are:

  • Gospel-centered mission and ministry focus

  • Missionary and sending organization are theologically like-minded with our denomination

  • Maintains communication with our church through members and missions team

  • Sending organization is financially responsible and accountable (e.g., ECFA)

  • Amount of funding and length of commitment are subject to annual evaluation

Given our current balance of $9300 of unallocated funds in the missions budget and

many

new applicants who all meet these criteria,

we will need to further limit the scope to help us decide with whom to partner

(e.g., the applicant is a member or regular attender of Trinity, the applicant has a personal relationship with someone at Trinity, the applicant will be serving an unreached people group, etc.)

In order to shorten the time it would take to brainstorm in person, we have created a Google Doc which we can all access and edit to facilitate this discussion.

Please click the button below to add your thoughts.

If you have any trouble accessing the Google Doc, please let us know, and we will help get you set up.
