Hi, !

The Snapshot

News:

  • Thanks to your generous giving, we have reached 87% of our monthly funding goal!

  • Last month, we joined a couple of our friends from church who hosted a neighborhood come-and-go dessert event, where we got to know a family that is part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  This past Saturday we had a follow-up opportunity to meet up again with this family at a local business event. More on that soon!

  • We have updated our site! www.missionaryish.org

  • We want to hear an update from you and ways we can be praying for you!

  Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for our time with our new LDS friends to be a good time of connection and spiritual conversation--and that we won't become Mormons.

  • Please pray for the Lord to provide more financial support partners.  We still need to raise about $1,015 more/month.

Support Update

Sorry we left you with such a cliffhanger for the past 2 months.  While we did not reach our funding goal (100% by August 31st), God used you guys to increase our funding by 6% in just 1 week!  Also, just in this past week, our support went up another 2%.  We are so grateful. Thank you!

We are continuing to raise support, but in a more chill way than before. If you have not yet joined our team of ministry partners, would you please pray and ask God if this is something He has for you?If you would like to learn more about partnering with us, you can ask us or click the button below!

The Gospel Comes with Pumpkin Spice

Last month, our friends and ministry partners Michael and Jessica from church decided to host a "fall stop-by" in order to get to know their neighbors. We had the honor and privilege to come and support them in loving their neighborhood in Fullerton! Being missionary-ish starts at home with our families and friends. Here's the story from their perspective:

When we lived in San Diego, we attended Parkside Church (also PCA denomination like Trinity).  Pastor Mike McBride and his family lived near the church and were very intentional about building community in their neighborhood.  As part of this, they hosted an annual “Pie Stop By,” where they invited the neighbors over for pie.  It started out small, but now involves dozens of pies each year.  We were also inspired by the teachings of Timothy Keller, particularly his book Center Church, which emphasizes doing ministry right where you live and centering it on the building of relationships with those who live near you. Wanting to build community in our neighborhood in Fullerton, we decided to host a “Fall Stop-By” in our front yard.  We designed an invitation, had it printed, and delivered it to over 160 of the surrounding houses (we were playing the numbers—according to author Rosaria Butterfield, only about 10% of people will actually come, but 100% will feel loved).  Then we put together some Fall-themed treats and coffee, and prayed that God sent neither too few nor too many people. 1pm on Saturday, and no one was there.  Then one couple came, and people gradually began to trickle in until we had over 40 people in our front yard!  Though we had met several of them previously, few had met each other.  The overall response seemed to be gratitude that we’d put on this event, and questions about when the next one will be.  We hope that this will serve to begin and/or deepen friendships with our neighbors, and perhaps ultimately lead to opportunities to invite them to church or share our faith.   We feel inspired to continue reaching out to our neighbors.  We’d also love to encourage other Trinity families to host similar events in their neighborhoods.  It is certainly inconvenient and may take you out of your comfort zone, but it’s worth it.  As Mandy McBride says, “People are starved for relationship.”  Let’s bring Christian community and hospitality to the lonely world of Southern California.

How About You?

We try to take some time each day to pray for our ministry partners, and we like knowing we are praying for specific, current things in their lives.  , we would love to hear an update on your life and how we can pray for you.  Talk to us!
