Mid April- Mid May Update

Allergy season has started

Dear Missionaryish Family,

Just a brief check-in this week.

I'll be honest, the last few weeks have stretched me. Midterms got pushed back once and I'm hoping to wrap them up this week. Between family rhythms, coursework, and the ongoing administrative work of the ministry, I'm feeling the weight of it. Would you pray for focus, stamina, and a clear head as I sit down to finish these exams?

A few things are also moving on the RUF side. I'm in active conversation with our Missionaryish Board and Trinity. Recently I’ve reached out to Pat Roach (one of the west coast RUF regional coordinator) for counsel, and I have meetings ahead with Eric Kapur to map out what the next couple of years could realistically look like. A lot of factors are in play, but the immediate priorities haven't changed: finish seminary, prepare for ordination exams, and keep cultivating relationships with the South Coast Presbytery missions committee.

More to share once exams are behind me. Thank you for walking with us. Also check out some more musings below! Would love to hear your thoughts.

In Christ,

David & Reagan

Quick Update

David is still in exams mode. Working through the intricacies of Joshua through Judges and Psalms to Song of Songs.

Reagan & Kids prayer for Reagan as she supports our home. Our kids have been rotating through ear infections and other allergy related symptoms this season and constant waking through the night.

Parenting as you may know, it is tough when you are sleep deprived but still gotta show up. Please pray for Reagan and I as we continue to practice pointing our kiddos to Christ even in times of sickness and help with resolving brotherly sisterly conflicts.

Family Snapshots

after 6 and 7th attempt…

God left hints in the created order about how invisible things work. Two viruses show us more about spiritual bondage than most of our theology has been willing to say.

The secular world correctly observed that something was spreading through communities like a virus. It named a phenomenon. It could not explain the mechanism. The reason is simple: it had no category for what a covenant is, what legitimate lordship looks like, or what the human soul was architecturally designed to do.

This essay reads two viruses as natural witnesses to how covenantal capture operates. God left hints in the created order. The biology is more precise than most of our theology has been willing to admit.
