Breaking the Mold: Creative Ways to Support Gospel Work

Exploring New Paths for Ministry Sustainability, Partnerships, and Kingdom Impact.

Dear Missionaryish Family,

For centuries, Christian ministries have relied on fundraising as a means of sustaining their work. From the Apostle Paul’s tentmaking to the patronage of early missionaries and the modern support-raising model, financial partnership has always played a role in advancing the gospel. Traditionally, missionaries and ministry leaders have depended on direct donor support, church sponsorships, and fundraising events. While these methods remain vital, today’s landscape calls for innovation, especially when faced with unique challenges.

As we continue the work of Missionaryish, we are exploring new ways to sustain and grow the ministry. Our goal remains the same: to share the gospel, encourage others, and advance God’s kingdom through the support of faithful partners like you. However, during this season, while I am in seminary—our ability to engage in traditional fundraising is limited due to the demands of school and family life. At the same time, the financial needs of our family and ministry continue. That’s why we’re stepping into new avenues of support and sustainability, not to replace relational fundraising but to supplement it.

Introducing a Three-Phase Ministry Plan

To provide clarity and structure to our fundraising efforts, are now introducing a three-phase plan:

  • Phase 1 (Current Focus): Living Expenses – Raising support to cover our family's essential living costs as we prepare for our future transition to California, which will likely take place after I complete seminary in 2027 and establish our ministry base.

  • Phase 2 (Next Year): Operational Costs – Expanding funding to cover ministry operations, outreach initiatives, and long-term sustainability.

  • Phase 3 (2027 Onward): Ministry Launch – Officially beginning planning with Reformed University Fellowship International to plant a campus outreach at UCI with the support of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Orange County. Approval from the South Coast Presbytery will be needed as well. This phase will also include completing my ordination credentialing in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

Here’s How We’re Building Sustainability:

1. Relationships First

Personal relationships remain at the heart of our ministry. There is no substitute for one-on-one connections. If you know someone who might be interested in hearing more about Missionaryish, we would love an introduction! Whether over Zoom or coffee, we want to share what God is doing through our work and our future plans. One key goal is to partner with Reformed University Fellowship International to plant an outreach at the University of California, Irvine, after graduation. These conversations and connections are essential in preparing for that next season.

Our last newsletter shared the incredible journey of Sarah, a single mom who is growing in her faith through the relationships Reagan has formed in our community. Her story is a powerful reminder that ministry is deeply personal. It’s about walking alongside others in their struggles and pointing them to Christ. Your partnership allows us to continue fostering these life-changing connections.

2. Exploring Business as Mission

We have launched a coffee subscription service as a way to generate additional income while providing a high-quality product. The goal is to build a small but consistent revenue stream to help offset costs, especially as we anticipate significantly higher living expenses when we return to California. This initiative allows us to integrate business with mission, creating a sustainable model for the future.

3. Leveraging Media Partnerships

Good news is coming

Many small nonprofits and missionary families rarely explore alternative revenue streams outside of traditional giving. One opportunity we’re pursuing is strategic media partnerships. For example, we’ve recently partnered with 1440 Media, a news source that strives for a fact-based approach. Through this partnership, we receive financial support when people engage with their content through our newsletter.

Here’s where we need your help:

  • Our newsletter has a 72% open rate, meaning that out of 456 subscribers, approximately 328 people read each email.

  • If each of those readers clicks on the 1440 Media link, this campaign alone could generate over $300, without costing anyone anything beyond a simple click. Check out the link below at the end of the page.

  • This is a small but impactful way to support our ministry at no cost to you.

4. Partnering Through Prayer & Community

Would you be open to inviting Reagan and me to your local church or Community Group (CG) for a short presentation and prayer time? If you're in the OKC area, we'd love to meet in person. If you're elsewhere, we can join via Zoom! We’d love the opportunity to share our vision, answer questions, and invite people to join our Phase 1 Prayer Committee as we seek God’s provision for our family’s living expenses during this transition season.

Sarah’s story highlights how prayer transforms lives. She went from feeling disconnected from faith to regularly attending church and engaging in community. This happened because people prayed and God moved. We want to build a team committed to praying for others like Sarah— People searching for hope.

Prayer is the foundation of our ministry, and we want to build a strong team of intercessors who will walk with us as we prepare to launch in California. This is an easy, low-commitment way for your CG to engage in missions, by praying with us and for us. If you’re interested, just reply to this email, and we’ll set up a time!
