Hi, !
TL;DR (~2min)
Just a short glimpse into our most recent outreach as a family.
We have hit 100% for our mid-2021-22 ministry year. Thank you so much for your prayers and generous support.
We want to take a moment to thank God for the past 3 years of Missionary-ish!
David has started his seminary intensives again in 2022 with 6 classes per year as a goal.
Our roles at Trinity has changed, but living on mission is still the foundation of our ministry.
Long Version (10 min)
Hi Family,
We hope that this letter finds you well. So sorry for the delay. With seminary classes kicking back up full-swing and balancing family life, it's been hard to keep updates going as frequently as possible. We are excited to bring you some new updates for 2022.
We are at 100%
Thank you for your faithful support, love, and prayers. Our ministry is set for the 2022 calendar year. God has definitely answered your prayers and thank you so much for keeping us going.
Looking Back 3 Years
As we look back the past three years, there is so much to be thankful for. We got married, started a new ministry, had kids, and now balancing that with finishing school. It is interesting to see how the Lord has led us into so many different seasons. Over the years, we have employed various strategies to understand better how to outreach and share the gospel with our neighbors. We've gone door-to-door evangelism, led digital ad campaigns ads, and even ventured into content creation alongside Trinity Presbyterian OC.
2018 - After returning from Thailand, we knew that David needed to finish seminary and we prayed about ministering in a different capacity. Slowly we felt that the Lord lead us to a new vision for reaching Orange County while still exploring the possibility for San Diego.
By August, we felt a more significant connection to the possibility of staying in OC. Our new goal would be to train, incubate, and experiment alongside the local church to build up the next generation of missionaries and missional workers.2019 - In 2019, we continued to spend time connecting with old supporters and discovering new ones as we worked on finishing the 1st round of fundraising for the 2020-2021 ministry year. This year we had the privilege of putting together two potential mission trips to Mumbai, India, and one to rural Colorado to support church planting. 2020 - Covid-19 hit and many of plans came to a halt. Trinity asked us to spearhead a new digital ministry to connect the church and engage in a new form of missional living. We pivoted our implementation process and shifted our ministry into the digital realm, thus establishing an online outreach and Youtube channel on behalf of Trinity OC. In a little over 10 months, a team of 23 individuals were raised up to build and maintain our digital presence. We also experimented with ways to love compassionately.
2021 - As restrictions on Covid have relaxed, we started to work towards revitalizing compassion and mission initiatives in Orange County. Launching a Home for Refugee Team and CarePortal was two strategic ways of meeting the immediate needs in our community.

Integration of ministry into the local church
Many folks still wonder why we're on staff, yet we're also operating like a parachurch ministry. The reason is simple; we want to strengthen the local church and receive the local church's partnership. Most small churches of our size would not support another full-time staff member unless it were an ordained teaching Elder (which David is still in the process of training in the PCA), but that would still depend on each churches' budget. Preaching on the "How to Listen" from the Book of ProverbsLike any missionary you send overseas, the eventual goal is for the missionary to partner and build up the local church of that region. They aim to work alongside the native church leaders so that one day, the missionaries would leave it more robust than when the partnership first started. Our goal at Trinity is no different.Visiting of our ministry sending partners, Brandon, and Jenny Scott Missionaries are typically part of a foreign sending body and simultaneously integrated into the life of the native church. They serve and work alongside native workers and become part of the "staff." The only difference is that they don' receive their paycheck from the local church but rather from the agency. Their raised support, governed by the agency, enables them to serve more consistently with the native church staff.
As we've helped Trinity grow in its outreach efforts for Christ, we have received mutual encouragement and accountability in fund governance and spiritual guidance for their team of elders and Pastors. Trinity has loved and supported us really well.

Theological Training
This year, I had the opportunity to start my first ever intensive course with Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS). Thankfully with our Family's help in OKC, I was able to attend the intensive in Dallas. It was a privilege to be in Dr. Beale's class on the study of the book of Revelation. It's hands down the most demanding course I've ever taken at RTS. I've learned a ton, but my head is still spinning, trying to gather all the details. Not sure where I land on everything yet as I know this has been a class worthy of lifelong study.
Dr. Beale & I during our Revelation Class in Dallas
The goal for this year is to complete 6 courses and to continue with the same rhythm for 3 years. As I'm typing this letter, I am currently attending class with Dr. Krueger on the Gospels.
Living on Mission
Reagan and I hope to continue to live on mission as a family. We hope to invite friends in the community (who don't know Christ) and friends from the church (who don't always feel confident in ministering alone) and do ministry together. We have talked about building a new tradition for our family liturgy in that we would practice hospitality by providing missional dinners 1-2 times a month. The goal of these meals would provide a two-fold purpose: to train and to bless. It doesn't always mean that we will share the gospel verbally, but it does mean that we will try to love them that they may see and feel the gospel.
We came to visit the (Aljarehs) refugee family back in February 2022 and they provided lunch! Look at the spread. For the past three years, we've tried to use traditional training materials to inspire evangelism, but we realize that the tried and true way to learn is to practice together.Ministering together at welcome dinner for TrinityThis new tradition aims not to build something new into our life but instead redeem the existing moments that will happen on our schedule. We all need a community to feel loved and accepted; why not do it together?
The Aljareh's youngest daughter Raghad holding Ezra. It's great to be able to love and minister together as a family.
Well, that's all for now. Lots more I did not get a chance to share. Thank you again for your love and support. We can't do this work without you all. Much Love,David, Reagan, Judah, and Ezra
Thank you for your faithful giving and support. We definitely can't do this work without you all! Looking forward to what the Lord has in store of us next year!
In Christ,
David, Reagan, Judah & Ezra
